The clams marinera style, are probably the most common way to prepare some clams in Spain. It is a recipe very typical of Galicia, in the northwest of the country. And, as all the meals of galicia (especially seafood) is very rich!. It is also a recipe very quick and easy to make, with few ingredients. In addition, it is very tasty, thus, has a ratio satisfaction/effort unbeatable. It also has few ingredients. Let’s look at how to make some clams a la marinera.

INGREDIENTS for 4 people:

  • 1kg of clams clean (they clean themselves, leaving them in the fridge a whole night in water with salt)
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • A tablespoon of chopped parsley
  • Two tablespoons of flour
  • Half a glass of olive oil
  • A good splash of white wine


1.- In a saucepan, add the olive oil and the chopped garlic. Fry the garlic over a medium heat, until golden in a bit.

2.- When the garlic begins to take color, add the flour and integrate all the ingredients well with a wooden spoon. Let saute a couple of minutes to cook the flour and then we do not know to crude oil.

3.- We take a splash of white wine and integrate, and stir well again with the rest of the ingredients. That there is no lump. It should be a sauce rather liquid, but not too much because the clams will loose some water.

4.- After another two minutes, when it is well integrated and wine has evaporated your alcohol, add the clams and chopped parsley very fine. Cook until they open up the clams. Finally, if necessary, check the salt (the clams already have a lot of salt).
